NEW BRITAIN EVENTS PROGRAMME 2011

It is the policy of New Britain to strengthen the links with the Commonwealth, to keep the United Kingdom United, to remind people of the national heroes who fought for our freedom and to come out of the European Union.  The following events are to support those aims.

AUSTRALIA/NEW ZEALAND FESTIVAL

Start at the statue behind St Paul’s Cathedral of Admiral Arthur Philip first Governor of Australia, founder of Sydney, born in the City of London. Wreaths laid and messages read out from the Australian High Commissioner, the New Zealand High Commissioner and Sir Michael Savory Lord Mayor of London 2004. Then street procession led by the Cinque Ports Drum and Bugle Band to the church of St Sepulchre for an Australian/New Zealand service conducted by Bishop David Farrer, Bishop of Wangaratta, Australia. Royal British Legion standards on the parade also Pearly Kings and Queens. Sir Teddy Taylor took part in the service.

22 February 2011The Fourth Goldsmith Lecture
The Fourth Annual GOLDSMITH LECTURE given by Professor Tim Congdon CBE. at University College London. Previous Goldsmith lectures given by Lord Tebbit, Lord Pearson, Professor Stephen Bush, Simon Heffer, associate Editor of The Daily Telegraph. Our country owes a great deal to Sir James Goldsmith as it is because of his actions we still have the pound and are not saddled with the euro.

ST GEORGE’S DAY FESTIVAL AND CITY OF LONDON PROMS at St Sepulchre Church, opposite The Old Bailey. International singers. The ashes of Sir Henry Wood, founder of the Promenade Concerts are buried in St Sepulchre’s Church.

KEEP THE UNITED KINGDOM UNITED FESTIVAL at St Sepulchre Church. Songs, dancing and readings from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

1 July 2011
CANADIAN FESTIVAL in the City of London, York, Birmingham and Blackburn to mark Canada Day.

TRAFALGAR DAY lay wreath on the tomb of Nelson in St Paul’s Cathedral. Trafalgar Lunch at Trafalgar Tavern, Greenwich.

December join in FALKLAND ISLANDS NATIONAL DAY
